Water Polo Canada is proud to announce the presence of a very special guest at its upcoming 2016 Summit in Calgary, in October, with the participation of master international water polo coach Giuseppe (Pino) Porzio.
Pino Porzio, aided by the Canadian senior team staff, will lead various technical sessions for coaches attending the Summit, an annual event held this year from October 13 to 16, 2016. Canadian coaches will benefit from a unique learning and development opportunity alongside one of the sport’s most decorated former athlete and active coach.
Pino Porzio recently illustrated himself with the Canadian Senior Men’s team in early 2016 when he led the group, as Head Coach, during a standout performance in Trieste at the Olympic Qualification Tournament held in his home country of Italy.
Although Olympic qualification escaped the Canadian men, the impact Pino Porzio had on the team was truly exceptional and led to the building of a great collaboration between the renowned technical leader and the Canadian federation.
All Summit attendees will be able to meet Pino Porzio during a special session on Sunday, October 16, while numerous occasions for coaches will be offered throughout the sessions included in the coaching and referee programming streams.
Mr. Porzio’s presence has been made possible with support from the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity Program, which promotes the fundamental principles of Olympism by supporting various initiatives across the globe.
