Men’s Junior National Team announces 2017 FINA Junior World Championships roster

(Ottawa, ON - July 31 2017) – Water Polo Canada coaching staff has announced the team roster for the upcoming FINA Junior World Championships that will take place from August 5-13 2017, in Belgrade, Serbia.

Canada qualified for this international event by finishing first at 2016 Junior Pan American Championships in Edmonton, Alberta last summer. Team Canada’s roster features many experienced players as some of the athletes just competed in the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. In 2015, Canada finished in 14th place, but with a more mature squad, the Canadian Men are looking to improve this ranking.

"After arriving in Serbia and having all of these preparations prior to entering into the tournament, I feel the team is ready and they have put in a lot of hard work. We have a really good team that will be very competitive at this Worlds and we are excited to see what the outcome will be after working with this group for four years. From the final team selection everyone is healthy and keen to go. We are really excited to see how we are going to measure with the rest of the world." said Nikola Maric, Head Coach of the 20U Men’s National Team.

“We are in the final days of our preparation for Junior Worlds. Trainings are going well and we are improving as a team. We play the system better and that’s a good sign. We are very excited and determined and are looking forward the tournament. We have a good team and will do everything to achieve the best possible results” added Jérémie Blanchard, member of the 20U Men’s national team.
