NextGen Lead Coach David Paradelo to visit National Legacy Development Centre in December

(Calgary, Alberta, November 29, 2018) - In May of 2018, Water Polo Canada (WPC) officially launched the National Legacy Development Centre (NLDC) in Calgary in collaboration with the Alberta Water Polo Association (AWPA), the Repsol Sport Centre and the Calgary Board of Education. Following this announcement, Water Polo Canada hired David Paradelo as the NextGen Lead Coach to manage and coordinate all NextGen activities and initiatives. In the coming weeks, Paradelo will be making his first visit to the NLDC in Calgary and the Edmonton Regional Development Centre. He will be there to assess the progress and the development of the identified athletes and to promote the high performance development initiatives. In collaboration with the local Calgary and Edmonton staff, Paradelo will ensure that daily training and competition environment of the participating athletes are well implemented and monitored. The NLDC located in the Repsol Sport Centre also facilitates the athlete identification and evaluation process for the Water Polo Canada Age Group National Team programs.

In addition to supporting the growth of the athletes in Alberta, the NLDC offers a high level of training aligned with the Water Polo Canada programming and identified skills. In order to celebrate the end of the Fall session, the National Legacy Development Centre will hold a free week of training for all Calgary athletes from December 10-14, 2018. These sessions will be open to current and potential NLDC athletes. The objective is to connect with the community and build awareness around the high performance program in Calgary.

Please contact the Alberta Water Polo Association ( office@albertawaterpolo.ca ) for registration information.
