Canadian men’s team to participate in the FINA Beach Water Polo Event

(Montreal, QC – July 8, 2019) - Water Polo Canada is pleased to announce the Canadian men’s team that will participate in the 2019 Beach Water Polo Tournament presented by FINA during the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. In the hope of showcasing a new and accessible version of water polo, FINA will test its current Beach Water Polo rules during this week-long tournament (July 12-19, 2019).

Canada, China, Argentina, and France were invited to compete in the four-team tournament where they will play a round-robin to determine the rankings for the Finals scheduled to be played on July 19, 2019. The Canadian squad will be composed of young up and coming athletes training with the Senior and Junior National Team Programs. The squad will be led by Head Coach, Ethan D’Souza and Team Leader, Robin Randall.

The Canadian men will play their first game of the tournament against China at 1:30 pm local time (12:30 am ET) on Saturday, July 13, 2019. 


  • July 13, 2019 – CHN vs CAN - 13:30 local time/ 12:30 am ET
  • July 15, 2019 – CAN vs ARG – 15:15 local time/ 2:15 am ET
  • July 17, 2019 – CAN vs FRA – 14:15 local time/ 1:15 am ET
  • July 19, 2019 – Final
