2015 FINA World Championships
Kazan, Russia will play host to the 2015 FINA World Championships July 24th to August 9th. Held every two years, the FINA World Championships feature the best aquatic athletes in the world competing in swimming, diving, synchro, and water polo.
Water Polo Competition
The men's and women's water polo competitions will feature 16 teams placed into 4 pools of four teams each. Each team will play three round robin games within their group. The winner of each group will advance directly to the quarter-finals. 2nd and 3rd in each group will advance to the playoff bracket and play a preliminary game, with the winners advancing to the quarter-finals. The gold and silver medal winning teams in the men's competition will qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero. No Olympic qualification berths are up for grabs in the women's competition.
