All WPC registrants are entitled to receive insurance coverage within Canada. In order to receive coverage, an individual must be registered and active on the online WPC National Registration Database and Event Management System, RAMP.
An insured registrant will have insurance coverage when participating in sanctioned events. A sanctioned event must be recorded in the WPC National Registration Database and Event Management System, and approved by the appropriate provincial and/or national organization.
Certificate Request
To request copies of insurance certificates please fill out the Certificate of Insurance Request Form and submit it a minimum of 10 business days prior to your event to allow time for the request to be processed. Clubs should submit the form to their Provincial Sport Organization administrator (“PSO”), while PSOs should submit the form to WPC . If the request is sent less than 10 business days prior to the event, WPC cannot guarantee the insurance certificate.
Filing a Claim
In the event of an accident our Chubb Accident Insurance Claim Form must be completed in full to process the claim. The attending physician's and/or dentist's statements must be completed by the medical professional who first saw the insured within 30 days of injury. The claim form must be submitted to WPC , with your PSO administrator copied, within 90 days of the date of the injury regardless of whether expenses have been incurred. All claims must be processed through the WPC office.
International Travel Insurance
Teams traveling outside of the country can purchase International Travel (Out-of-Country Medical) insurance through WPC at a rate of $6.00/day per person. International Travel (Out-of-Country Medical) insurance provides coverage for medical emergencies while travelling out of the country (i.e., hospital fees, doctors’ fees, etc.) following an accident or a sudden sickness that need an emergency examination.
If a registrant has an existing policy, the WPC International Travel (Out-of-Country Medical) insurance will be secondary to the other policy. If the registrant does not have another policy in place, this WPC international insurance policy will become the primary policy. To receive International Travel (Out-of-Country Medical) insurance teams/clubs will need to submit the "International Travel Permit Application" through their club's RAMP account. Once the application has been submitted, the amount owed ($6.00/day per person), will be added to the application. Payment must be made through RAMP. Insurance must be requested a minimum of 10 business days prior to leaving the country.
If an individual is travelling to compete in an international event on their own, without their Canadian team/club, they are unable to purchase International Travel (Out-of-Country Medical) insurance through WPC. However, the club must submit the "International Travel Permit Application" through their club's RAMP account on the athlete’s behalf.
Completion of the International Travel Permit Application allows WPC to monitor the number of Registrants attending events internationally.

*IMPORTANT* Registrants of Canadian teams/clubs travelling internationally will not be covered by WPC’s Accident Insurance. WPC’s Accident Insurance only applies following an accident while participating in a sanctioned activity. It provides indemnity compensation for fractures, etc. It covers fees incurred in Canada only as per the policy wording request by a doctor that is not covered under a provincial medical program (chiropractor, physiotherapy), accident insurance does not cover medical emergency fees.
Free Trial Registrants
Individuals trying out water polo programs will have insurance coverage as free trial registrants. Free trial registrants are covered under the Water Polo Canada (WPC) insurance policy on a one-time basis for a maximum of fourteen (14) consecutive days from the first day they enter the water (i.e., If an individual starts their free trial on September 1, 2025, their trial will end September 14, 2025). After the trial period is complete, free trial registrants must be registered and active in WPC's National Registration and Event Management Database, RAMPInteractive® to receive continued coverage.
This coverage is intended for those individuals who are trying the sport for the first time. As such, an individual can only be considered a free trial registrant once. Any individual who has previously completed a free trial may not complete an additional trial, regardless of whether it is with a different water polo club. These individuals will be required to register with a club prior to participating in any water polo activities. Participants have the option to upgrade their membership to Make a Splash, Water Polo for Life, or Perform in Water Polo.
Free trial registrants will only be covered under the Water Polo Canada insurance policy if the WPC Free Trial Registrants Consent Form has been signed for each free trial registrant participating and is received within seven (7) days of the completion of the trial period.

Short Term Registrants
This registrant category is designed for individuals who are attending "bring a friend" or "bring a parent" to practice or activity. These individuals will be covered under WPC’s insurance policy once per season. Participants have the option to upgrade their membership to Make a Splash, Water Polo for Life, or Perform in Water Polo.
Short-term registrants will only be covered under the Water Polo Canada insurance policy if the WPC Short-Term Registrants Consent Form has been signed for each short-term registrant participating and is received within seven (7) days of the completion of the "bring a friend" or "bring a parent" to practice or activity.
