In another intense game, Canada and Italy were neck-and-neck for most of the game, before seeing the Italian squad take an 11-7 lead at the end of the third quarter and go on to win the game 14-10. However, a successful Canadian protest due to a misapplication of the rules at the beginning of the final quarter forced the replay of the fourth period. Despite coming as close as 11-9, the Canadians were not able to overcome the deficit and Italy recorded a 15-10 win to move on to the semi-finals.

Italy came out firing in the opening minutes of the game, taking a 3-0 lead. The Canadian team regrouped on defence, allowing them to create opportunities on offence. Joelle Bekhazi put the Canadians on the board with 3:44 to go in the quarter. Kelly McKee and Axelle Crevier each scored one for Canada to tie at 3-3 at the end of the first period.

The Canadians were able to capitalize on the power play in the second quarter; Emma Wright fired one from the right side the give her team the lead. The Italians answered back with two goals of their own to regain a 5-4 advantage at halftime. Elyse Lemay-Lavoie equalized for Canada on a counter-attack in the first minute of the third quarter, but the Italian squad took advantage of extra-man opportunities to put the score at 7-5. Krystina Alogbo beat the goalkeeper with a lob shot to bring back Canada within one, but the Italians would score four more goals to show an 11-7 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Initially, Italy had outscored the Canadians 3-1 in the final quarter to record a 14-10 win. However, the Canadians put a protest on the game for a misapplication of the rules and they won their case. The decision was then made to replay the fourth quarter. Canada's Hayley McKelvey and Emma Wright, each netted one on the power play to put the Canadians within two. Italy answered back to regain a three-goal advantage.
