The Edmonton 2020 Junior Pan American Championships postponed due to the COVID-19

(April 1, 2020 – Ottawa, ON) – On March 31, Aquatics Canada received a communication from the Union Americana de Natacion (UANA) stating their decision to postpone all events in the summer or fall of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Junior Pan American Championships 2020 scheduled to take place from July 5 to 12, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta.

“Water Polo Canada supports UANA's decision, and we must continue to do our part to ensure the health of our communities. We will continue to work with Aquatics Canada and UANA to find the best possible solution for all the participants of the Junior Pan American Championships. At this moment, it is difficult to predict the impact of this crisis on sport and events. I want to thank all of our partners for their continued support, including Sport Canada, the Government of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Events and the Kinsmen Center,” indicated Martin Goulet, Water Polo Canada's Executive Director.

Over the next few weeks, Water Polo Canada will continue to monitor the situation and assess the various scenarios with our stakeholders. We will continue to update our community through our website and social media.
