Gender Parity Announced for Water Polo at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games

Ottawa, April 10, 2025 - Water Polo Canada applauds the announcement from World Aquatics: "Women's Water Polo to Achieve Gender Parity at LA28 with 12 Teams" (https://www.worldaquatics.com/news/4246145/water-polo-women-historic-milestone-gender-parity-la28-los-angeles-2028-olympic-games-12-teams-world-aquatics-ioc-executive-board).

“Water Polo Canada is very proud to see that there will be 12 women's teams, instead of ten, at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games water polo tournament”, said Jasmine Northcott, Chief Executive Officer, Water Polo Canada. "Thanks to the work of the International Olympic Committee and World Aquatics, we will now see gender parity in water polo at the Olympic Games, and an additional opportunity to support women in sport and promote women's water polo around the world."
