Water Polo Canada

Wednesday, May 17, 2023

Following the commencement and receipt of a lawsuit alleging mistreatment of female Water Polo Canada athletes between 2004 and 2016, on October 28, 2022, Water Polo Canada committed to conducting an independent investigation. The investigation is now complete. Based on the findings, which involved an investigation into the allegations made against coach Patrick Oaten and a review of the current National Team Program training and competition environment, the Board of Directors of Water Polo Canada has voted to reinstate Patrick Oaten as Head Coach of the Senior Men’s National Team. As the lawsuit is ongoing, Water Polo Canada cannot comment further on the investigation or the allegations.
