Water Polo Canada announces the 2023 NCL 17U Western Conference All-Star Teams

Calgary Renegades, Calgary Torpedoes, Fraser Valley, Pacific Storm and Team Sask clubs will all be represented at the 2023 NCL 17U National Finals

Ottawa, May 10, 2023 - Water Polo Canada announces the members of the National Championships League (NCL) 17U Western Conference All-Star Teams following the conclusion of the NCL 17U Western Conference Championships on Sunday, May 7th, in Langley, B.C.

At the conclusion of the three-day competition, the following teams qualified for the NCL 17U National Finals to be held May 25-27 in Calgary. On the men’s side, Calgary Torpedoes, Fraser Valley Black, Pacific Storm and Team Sask clubs all qualified, while on the women’s side, Calgary Renegades, Fraser Valley, Pacific Storm and Team Sask clubs also secured their ticket for the NCL 17U National Finals event after finishing top-4. Team Sask and Fraser Valley respectively won the men’s and women’s tournament in Langley.

These eight clubs will be joined by the following eight teams from Eastern Canada who qualified following the NCL 17U Eastern Conference Championships held April 14-16 in Montreal: CAMO 1, Mavericks Black, Mavericks Red and South Central on the men’s side, as well as CAMO, Capital Wave, Mavericks Black and Shadow Water Polo Club on the women’s side.

The All-Star Teams members were selected following a vote by the team coaches present at the 2023 NCL 17U Western Conference Championships.

The NCL 17U Western Conference regular season events started in November, with a total of 12 teams participating. Final results are available through the Water Polo Canada website at https://www.waterpolo.ca/article/84400.

The NCL U17 Western Conference Championships are part of Water Polo Canada National Championship League (NCL), which was created in 2014 to bring the domestic club age group programs under a country wide umbrella that promotes the development of the sport. The NCL offers three categories of play: Senior, 17U, and 15U.
