Water Polo Canada is pleased to announce preliminary details of its Age Group National Team (AGNT) programs for the summer of 2025.
This upcoming summer sees several programs gearing up for competition, spanning several age groups. Our women’s and men’s Junior squads (20 & Under) will compete in their respective World Championship events, after having successfully qualified for those last year. In contrast, our Youth (17& Under) and Cadet (15 & Under) A-Teams will compete at Pan American Championships, seeking to qualify for their respective World Championships (to occur in 2026). In addition, we will be launching our Cadet (15 & under) B-Team program, offering a first introduction to National Team programming to the newly enlarged talent pool for this Age Group.
While some program plans are confirmed, some still depend on receiving final information from various international training partners and sports federations. The prices listed below include many variable components for all these programs, and the total costs reflect the high end of those variables. A breakdown of those variable costs will be included in the athlete invitation letters (by March 15th).
The maximum program participation costs quoted below have been determined based on anticipated government funding, which has yet to be confirmed. Except for the May Youth 17U event, all program costs below are subject to change, depending on final confirmation of government funding.
Water Polo Canada will support fundraising initiatives for each Age Group National Team program, providing athletes with the opportunity to drive charitable donations for their respective program. Fundraising will be used to reduce the overall program costs.
Based on overall final program costs, should there be surplus funds, reimbursements will be made, where applicable, as has been Water Polo Canada’s practice in recent years.
WPC recognizes that some of the AGNT programs take place during regular school months. WPC will work with our athletes to provide (upon request) official documentation to assist students in deferring exams, or obtaining permission for their absence for events that may conflict with their school schedule. Team Managers are available to proctor exams, if necessary and upon request, to support students to stay on track with their studies.
